Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is amending its adjudication regulations regarding service connection for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Press release

Date: 2008-11-11

Washington - The National Gulf War Resource Center (NGWRC), the nation’s leading Gulf War advocacy organization, is pleased to see the changes that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is amending its adjudication regulations regarding service connection for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  “By using, the veteran's lay testimony alone to help establish the occurrence of a in-service stressor” said Jim Bunker, the president of the NGWRC, “and not having to force veterans to come up with sometimes hard to get evident, will make the claims process faster.”
What this rule will lead to is reduce claim-processing time for first time claims being before the VA and giving the veterans a compensation check. “It is important to keep in mind that the compensation paid to our veterans is for their lost of earning power,” added Mr. Bunker, “many none veterans may see this as a hand out; but it is not.”

Request for Iraqi Freedom veterans - media interviews

Date:

NGWRC received this request from a reporter, and is posting it for those who may be interested:

I work for a national men¹s magazine, and we¹re working on an article linked to the 5th anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq War. We're looking to speak with a group of men and women with a broad range of experience who were on active duty in Iraq at any point from the time the conflict began to the present day. We want to speak with medics, infantrymen, commanders, soldiers who were training Iraqi police, helicopter pilots--any and all types of military personnel who have been there and witnessed the conflict firsthand. We¹re looking for anecdotes, stories of events or images that stuck with you, thoughts on what you¹ve accomplished--for yourself, for the coalition war effort, and for Iraq--anything and everything you¹re willing to share with us about your experiences.

We¹ll speak with both actives or inactives--our only criteria are that you currently be living in the US, that you¹re willing to be photographed should you be chosen for the piece, and that we can print your name in the story.

If you¹re interested in participating, please send an email containing the following information to iraqwarproject08@yahoo.com:
